The referendum, it’s our choice.

Remember the 2015 national election?
The CONSERVATIVES won, one of the many Right-Wing mandates in their election pledge was to give the British people another chance to decide if we want to remain in the European Economic Community.
This is a policy that a large chunk of the CONSERVATIVES members have wanted for so many years.
So if you did not bother to vote in the national election or did not vote for any of the remain parties: Liberal, Labour or Greens the outcome of the referendum could be considered your fault alongside the CONSERVATIVES, irrespective of how you vote in the European referendum, you have opened the can of worms, you are responsible and will have to live with the consequences.
Age of voting
The problem I have with the whole referendum proses is;
The age limit that anyone can vote.
In 2015 Scotland also held a referendum to see if their population wanted to stay in the United Kingdom, this we were told would be a once in a generation referendum, they reduced the voting age to 16.
We are told our referendum on June the 23rd would be a once in a generation referendum.
We are told the whole of Britain could vote to stay or leave the European Economic Community.
If this vote is so decisive that it will affect so many people's lives, "a once in a generation vote" why don't those who will have to sort out the mess that we will get ourselves into whatever the outcome have a chance to vote?
I'm talking about the youth of today, why don't they get a say in what happens to them?
It cannot be that a twelve or fourteen-year-old has little idea of the proposals being put forward to them.
The rest of the country that can vote from 18 to 100 has equally little idea of the proposals being put forward to them.
So, to me without the youth having a vote the whole thing is bogus.
Unless the government gave anyone of secondary school age a chance to vote it’s unfair.
You could argue that they wouldn’t understand the implications of their decision, they wouldn’t understand the arguments for leaving and remaining, they would not be alone.
I’ve seen ministers of parliament change sides.
If the children had a vote it might even bring the publicity argument down to basics, not rafts of speculative figures and scare tactics.
If you took immigration out of the argument what would we have left to argue about?
That is what I would like to see.

Harlow People watch out
One argument that is always wheeled out by the leave party is that we would be electing people to our government to rule over us that we can change every five years.
What the leave party CONSERVATIVES do not tell you is that they are trying to or have changed the constituency boundaries across the country.
What does this mean for Harlow?
It means that our constituency boundaries will now expand to include Hatfield Heath, Hatfield Broad Oak and a large chunk of Nazeing, none of which have anything to do with an industrial town like Harlow but ensures CONSERVATIVES will always win in the future.
Replicate this across the country, we have a permanent CONSERVATIVE government.

Think before you vote

Don’t just think about immigration, think about what the European Economic Community does for us.
Leave says, “Out of Europe we can take charge of our own laws”, the problem is: Thanks to the boundary changes we will never change government, it will always be Conservative.
Currently we have two brakes on what any government can do, our House of Lords and European Economic Community.
The House of Lords is always being threatened with extinction by The House of Commons if they cannot get their own way.
Mutterings of an elected House of Lords every time the House of Commons lose a vote, any new elected House of Lords would probably be based on the new constituency boundaries, ensuring there is no brake on the ruling party.
If we come out of Europe we would be removing another brake on our government’s ability to pass laws.
Don’t forget it was the right wing of the CONSERVATIVES that called for the referendum……what do they gain? Total domination.
We could end up with a permanent fascist government with a twist on democracy.

Immigration

I have some Spanish friends that were studying here in England, they spent time here in Harlow trying to speak like the English, one of them was so good that not only could he speak in a North London accent he could also do Cockney rhyming slang, if you met him in the street you would think he came from the old East End of London not Spain.

One of them complained that his little village where he grew up had disappeared, the developers had moved in, all the Spanish were forced to leave because they couldn’t afford the property prices once the British had taken over.
Sound familiar?

One of them asked “Are you not worried about immigration? All the foreigners coming to your country?”  

I replied "it’s not the foreigners I am worried about, it’s the speed of change and the failure to integrate, bringing Sharia law in to replace our own that concerns me.
Plus, the media and Labour politicians that call people racist for complaining instead of doing what they were paid to do, look after our country.
After all we are all foreigners, we are all mongrels, it would be hard to find many people that can truly say they are English.
I can trace one side of my family back to the 17th century in Dorset but am I English?
What and who is English?
We have been invaded many times over the centuries, Romans (Italians), Anglo Saxons (Germans), Vikings (Scandinavians), Normans (French), have all left their genes here.
I'm told my family name came from France in 1066, my mothers family name goes back centuries ago to Scotland and before that probably Ireland.
But am I English?"
 
I will always remember an old lady having a go at her German neighbour in Woodford, she was shouting at him "Go back to your own country, I’m English, I am Anglo Saxon and proud of it.” I smiled when she said it, Anglo Saxon comes from two Germanic tribes from the North Sea coast of Germany. 

In the house where I grew up in Harlow our next-door neighbour came from Trinidad in the West Indies, that same house is now home to Romanians, England is made up of many, many, nationalities.

Before I started writing this, I was convinced that we should leave the European Economic Community after all it’s a dog’s dinner of a mess, with very little that we could be proud of being part of.
Undemocratic, wasteful, almost a dictatorship from Germany, if they say jump the rest of the Northern power houses say how high?
While the Southern countries look on, swallowing their pride.
Plus, because we are not in the Euro currency we are already on the outside looking in on the mess.

Writing this I’ve convinced myself to put up with being ruled by Germany, with France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Holland playing lap dogs to Germany.
It has to be better than being ruled by the far-right Eton mob….......or is it?
